August 9, 2015

Offered by California Zephyr Railcar Charters.

Photograph of Santa Fe We’re off to Santa Fe! Our private cars will travel on the rear of Amtrak’s Southwest Chief from Los Angeles to Albuquerque. Once we’ve arrived, you will travel by limousine to Santa Fe, fabled city at the end of the trail, and enjoy luxury accommodations in the Grande Dame of Santa Fe hotels, La Fonda. La Fonda will be your base of operations for the next 4 days.

Of course August is the season of the world-famous Santa Fe Opera, and our tour is structured to allow maximum enjoyment for opera aficionados. The setting, sheltered outdoors, is stunning, and the productions this year that you could enjoy, should you desire, include Verdi’s Rigoletto, Strauss’ Salome, Donizetti’s Daughter of the Regiment, and Mozart’s La Finta Giardiniera.

Other options include a ride on the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railway from Chama to Antonito, CO, and a tour of the Harvey Houses in the area, including the two that are located in Las Vegas, and the one in Belen.

For those wishing to experience the art scene in Santa Fe, we can arrange for a pedicab to take you to Canyon Rd, home of over 100 galleries and studios. You could also take a tour of a nearby art bronze foundry, or spend a day visiting the Taos pueblo and nearby city with its famous artist colony.

All too soon it’s time to return, and we’ll take our limo back to Albuquerque where our private railcars await.
